He was the promoter of the poetry of the Gyanashrayi-Nirgun branch in the devotional era of Hindi literature. His compositions influenced the Bhakti movement of the Hindi state to a deep level. | काल करे सो आज कर, आज करे सो अब पल में परलय होएगी, बहुरि करेगा कब । |
भावार्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि जो कार्य तुम कल के लिए छोड़ रहे हो उसे आज करो और जो कार्य आज के लिए छोड़ रहे हो उसे अभी करो, कुछ ही वक़्त में तुम्हारा जीवन ख़त्म हो जाएगा तो फिर तुम इतने सरे काम कब करोगे। अथार्त, हमें किसी भी काम को तुरंत करना चाहिए उसे बाद के लिए नहीं छोड़ना चाहिए।
Meaning of Kabir Ke Dohe: Kabir Das Ji says that do the work today that you are leaving for tomorrow and do the work now that you are leaving for today, your life will be over in a matter of time, then when will you do so many things. That is, we should do any work immediately and should not leave it for later.

भावार्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि इंसान को ऐसी भाषा बोलनी चाहिए जो सुनने वाले के मन को बहुत अच्छी लगे। ऐसी भाषा दूसरे लोगों को तो सुख पहुँचाती ही है, इसके साथ खुद को भी बड़े आनंद का अनुभव होता है।

भावार्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि खजूर का पेड़ बेशक बहुत बड़ा होता है लेकिन ना तो वो किसी को छाया देता है और फल भी बहुत दूरऊँचाई पे लगता है। इसी तरह अगर आप किसी का भला नहीं कर पा रहे तो ऐसे बड़े होने से भी कोई फायदा नहीं है।

भावार्थ: कबीर दास जी इस दोहे में कहते हैं कि अगर हमारे सामने गुरु और भगवान दोनों एक साथ खड़े हों तो आप किसके चरण स्पर्श करेंगे? गुरु ने अपने ज्ञान से ही हमें भगवान से मिलने का रास्ता बताया है इसलिए गुरु की महिमा भगवान से भी ऊपर है और हमें गुरु के चरण स्पर्श करने चाहिए।

भावार्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि निंदकहमेशा दूसरों की बुराइयां करने वाले लोगों को हमेशा अपने पास रखना चाहिए, क्यूंकि ऐसे लोग अगर आपके पास रहेंगे तो आपकी बुराइयाँ आपको बताते रहेंगे और आप आसानी से अपनी गलतियां सुधार सकते हैं। इसीलिए कबीर जी ने कहा है कि निंदक लोग इंसान का स्वभाव शीतल बना देते हैं।

भावार्थ: कबीर दस जी कहते है कि जब मै इस दुनिया में लोगो के अंदर बुराई ढूंढ़ने निकला तो कही भी मुझे बुरा व्यक्ति नहीं मिला, फिर जब मैंने अपने अंदर टटोल कर देखा तो पाया कि मुझसे बुरा व्यक्ति इस जग में और कोई नहीं है। अथार्त, हमें दूसरों के अंदर बुराई ढूंढ़ने से पहले खुद के अंदर झाक कर देखना चाहिए और तब हमे पता चलेगा कि हमसे ज्यादा बुरा व्यक्ति इस संसार में और कोई नहीं है।

भावार्थ: जब हमे कोई दुःख होता है अथार्त कोई परेशानी होती है या चोट लगता है तब जाके हम सतर्क होते हैं और खुद का ख्याल रखते हैं। कबीर जी कहते हैं कि यदि हम सुख में अथार्त अच्छे समय में ही सचेत और सतर्क रहने लगे तो दुःख कभी आएगा ही नहीं। अथार्थ हमे सचेत होने के लिए बुरे वक़्त का इंतेज़ार नहीं करना चाहिए।

भावार्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि लोग बड़ी से बड़ी पढाई करते हैं लेकिन कोई पढ़कर पंडित या विद्वान नहीं बन पाता। जो इंसान प्रेम का ढाई अक्षर पढ़ लेता है वही सबसे विद्वान् है।

भावार्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि हे प्रभु मुझे ज्यादा धन और संपत्ति नहीं चाहिए, मुझे केवल इतना चाहिए जिसमें मेरा परिवार अच्छे से खा सके। मैं भी भूखा ना रहूं और मेरे घर से कोई भूखा ना जाये।

भावार्थ: जो लोग लगातार प्रयत्न करते हैं, मेहनत करते हैं वह कुछ ना कुछ पाने में जरूर सफल हो जाते हैं। जैसे कोई गोताखोर जब गहरे पानी में डुबकी लगाता है तो कुछ ना कुछ लेकर जरूर आता है लेकिन जो लोग डूबने के भय से किनारे पर ही बैठे रहे हैं उनको जीवन पर्यन्त कुछ नहीं मिलता।

भावार्थ: ज्ञान का महत्वा धर्म से कही ज्यादा ऊपर है इसलिए किसी भी सज्जन के धर्म को किनारे रख कर उसके ज्ञान को महत्वा देना चाहिए। कबीर दास जी उदाहरण लेते हुए कहते हैं कि – जिस प्रकार मुसीबत में तलवार काम आता है न की उसको ढकने वाला म्यान, उसी प्रकार किसी विकट परिस्थिती में सज्जन का ज्ञान काम आता है, न की उसके जाती या धर्म काम आता है।

भावार्थ: जीवन में जय पराजय केवल मन की भावनाएं हैं।यदि मनुष्य मन में हार गया – निराश हो गया तो पराजय है और यदि उसने मन को जीत लिया तो वह विजेता है। ईश्वर को भी मन के विश्वास से ही पा सकते हैं – यदि प्राप्ति का भरोसा ही नहीं तो कैसे पाएंगे?

भावार्थ: जब कोई व्यक्ति काफ़ी समय तक हाथ में मोती की माला लेकर घुमाता हैं लेकिन उसका भाव नहीं बदलता। संत कबीरदास ऐसे इन्सान को एक सलाह देते हैं की हाथ में मोतियों की माला को फेरना छोड़कर मन के मोती को बदलो।
Meaning of Kabir Das Ke Dohe: When a person rotates with a garland of pearls in his hand for a long time, but his emotion does not change. Saint Kabirdas gives advice to such a person, that instead of turning the garland of beads in his hand, change the pearl of the mind.

| अति का भला न बोलना, अति की भली न चूप अती का भला न बरसना, अती कि भलि न धूप । |
भावार्थ: कबीर जी उदाहरण लेते हुए बोलते है कि जिस प्रकार जरुरत से ज्यादा बारिस भी हानिकारक होता है और जरुरत से ज्यादा धुप भी हानिकारक होता है, उसी प्रकार हम सब का न तो बहुत अधिक बोलना उचित रहता है और न ही बहुत अधिक चुप रहना ठीक रहता है। अथार्थ हम जो बोलते है वो बहुत अनमोल है इसलिए हमे सोच समझ कर काम सब्दो में अपने बातो को बोलना चाहिए।
